Christmas Names!

Hey! Sorry for my long absence but now I'm back with Christmas names! The holiday season is by far one of my favorite times of year and I was happy enough to learn that there are many Christmas-themed names- here are a few! (these are mostly girls' names)

  • Noelle- this is a beautiful unisex name meaning 'born on Christmas Day'.
  • Natala, Natalie, Natasha, Natale, etc. all also mean 'born on Christmas Day'.
  • Estelle- this is a gorgeous, sweet name meaning 'star'.
  • Dorothy- this is a classic name although I'm not sure about it yet- it means 'Gift of God'.
  • Eira- this is a unique name of Welsh origin and means 'snow'.
  • Angel- this name is self explanatory but it is also very beautiful!
  • Holly- this again is self explanatory but is also so sweet and precious!
  • Dior- this is a very unique name and means 'present'.
You may be wondering why Estelle is highlighted- well that's because it's my favorite of the bunch! Which one is yours?

Hey! I'm so sorry I haven't been posting lately. It's hard to manage 2 blogs, but with the Holidays coming up, I hope to do more posting.

Anyways, I few weeks ago, I picked up a fun app (for iPod) from iTunes- 50,000 Baby Names!
Although I highly doubt there are 50,000 baby names, I really like this app! Especially the fact that when you click on a name, it comes up with a 'bio' on it!
There also are popularity and alphabetical lists.
By clicking the heart, you can add the name to your Favorites list or you can just keep scrolling through.....
You can even add custom names!

But the best part of this app......
it's free!

ps. if you are searching for baby name apps, please search 'baby names' (you could find bad apps if you just search 'name')

Name Pairs Part 3

Hey! One of my favorite parts of BabyNames.com is that members can create names lists on what they might name their future editions. These name lists are very easy to use and have everything to do with Name Pairs!
So it shows the gender of the name, the name itself (it can also include middle names), and you can vote 'yes' or 'no'.
Take this one for example. I really liked the name, do I hit the green thumbs-up button and it tallied up my vote along with others. I think one of the reasons I liked the name was because it was very cute and reasonable. Madelyn is also not a very common middle name.
But then, here is this one. I can't pronounce the names so I hit the red thumbs-down button and it looks like the majority of people agreed with me!

Actually, I've never found a Name List with names that I love, most of the time I vote down. It's not a bad thing but I like the option of giving people my opinions so maybe they think twice about naming their kid Tahlo Kaii. What do you think?

Name Pairs (part 2)

Hey! I learned a lot on Name Pairs and I find that one of the hardest things is middle names. There are many options but here are the most popular middle names for boys and girls.
After looking though many sites I have concluded that
Marie, Elizabeth, Grace, Rose, Michelle, and Ann
are the most popular for girls and
James, John, William, Stephen, Michael, and Joseph
are the most popular for boys. Just look at many celebs for example.....
Like, Debby Ryan from The Suite Life on Deck, her middle name is Ann.
And did you know that Michael Gambon's (also know as Dumbledore movie 3-7) middle name is John?
And the glamourous Selena Gomez's middle name is Marie.

But anyway, back to Name Pairs some of my favorites include:
Gabrielle Faith
Charlie James
Brenden Conner
Marie Elizabeth
Henry Nicholas
Harper Joy
Helena Joy
Evan Christopher

What are some of your favorites?

L!

Hey everybody! It's time for the letter L! So sit back, relax, and look at some cool L names!

This first thing I want to do is write the 5 most popular girl and boys names that start with L:

Boys:                             Girls:
1. Liam                          1. Lily/Lilly
2. Landon                      2. Lila
3. Lucas/Lukas              3. Leah
4. Logan                        4. Layla/Leila
5. Levi                           5. Lucy/Lucie

Personally, my favorite out of all the lists would have to be Lily/Lilly! I prefer the spelling of Lily though. It's an English name and means Lily Flower.

I think my favorite 'L' name would have to be Leann. Although I like the spelling Leahanne better. I think it's more unique and an English name!

Logan. Hmm.... this is an interesting name for me. I like it, but to me it definitely more of boy's name than a girl's name- what do you think? It is Irish and has an interesting meaning- From the Hallow.

While searching for interesting 'L' names I stumbled upon the name Lyric. This is a very trendy name and was most popular in 2009. I think this name is a little too trendy for me and it means Words of a Song.

But before this post is over, I want to mention a show that I really like called Quints by Surprise. It's a cute show about a family with 6 kids on TLC. They have some very cute kids names so I decided to create a poll asking you what your favorite name is (that they named their kids) so take my poll!

An Interview with My Mom: Part 1

Hey everyone! Somedays when my mom and I are in the car, and I have nothing to do, I whip out a notebook and start to ask her about names. Last Friday, I decided to do just that, you all might be tired of hearing my opinions so why not hear someone else's?

This was one was on Triplet names. I also answered the questions as well. My mom answers are in the green while mine are in the blue........
As you can see, my mom chose 3 names that she really liked no matter what gender while I stuck with GGB triplets.

So what do you think? Which answers do you like the best? Feel free to answer the questions below!

Noms français

French Names! The title to this post is French Names- in French. I practically live for French Names. Well maybe not live, but I love them! Some of my favorites include Gabrielle, Abrielle, Jaques. I love them all!

One of my favorite names would have to be Gabrielle. It is probably the most known French name. It's a feminine form of Gabriel and means God is my strength

Narcisse is also a French name! This isn't one of my favorites as it reminds me of Draco Malfoy's mother, Narcissa, in the Harry Potter Books. For that reason I would never name a child that. Anyways, it means Daffodil.

Sidney. A French, male name is ranked #846 in US births. I actually like this name although it has an odd meaning- Contraction Of St. Denys.

I love this name- Jacques! It is so pretty is a nice alternative to Jack (which is very popular). Jacques, of course, is French and has a really interesting meaning- supplanter.

And to finish off the lovely french names, I decided to go with name that could be for either gender- Cher. Cher, we all know as a singer but her name has an interesting meaning- Dear One.

What's your favorite French Name?

T

Hey! Today's letter is T! T is a hard letter, there aren't that many names that start with T and there is only a handful of 'good ones' in my opinion. But I managed to find some names that I did like. So let's get started!

Surprisingly there is only 1 name for Girls in the Most Popular Baby Name List- Taylor. Taylor to me is more of a boy's name but has definitely been renown as a girl's name by the popular singer, Taylor Swift. I also found an interesting spelling- Teighlor. This name is a boy and girl's name and means tailor.

Tara. This is a gorgeous name! Although it may not be all that popular since in the book Chrissa, the bully is named Tara. None the less, the name is great! It's an Irish name that means Tower or Hillside.

Tyler, Thomas, and Tristan were the only boy 'T' names on the list. My favorite is definitely Tyler! It's cute, short, and very strong. Tristan is okay, but a person at my school is named Tristan and his lunch once spilled on me. It does not bring happy memories. Now Thomas is cute. It is a Greek name meaning twin. Cool!

So there were your 'T' names. What is your favorite?

This or That? Name Game!

Hey! I recently found this cool YouTube channel, where I only watch the videos on names. One time, I stumbled upon a This of That video all about nicknames! I decided to do and my answers are beneath the choices.

1. Charles: Charlie? Chuck? Chaz?
Hmm.... I love Charlie! I'm not even a fan of Charles that much.
2. William: Will? Liam? Bill? Billy?

I like Will the best.
3. Margaret: Maggie? Madge? Marge? Meg? Molly? Peggie? Peg?

Molly! I never knew that it was a nickname of Margaret but it's really cute. I also found that Margo (or Margot, Margaux) can be a nickname for Margaret!
4. Angelina: Angel? Angie? Lina?
I don't really like this name, but I guess Angie.
5. Katherine: Kathy? Kat? Kate? Katie? Kitty?

Kate is really cute! But I like Katherine (and all other forms of it) spelled with C's.
6. Gabriella: Gabby? Brielle? Ella? Elle?

Maybe Brielle or Gabby
7. Nathaniel: Nathan? Nate? Nat?

Nathan!
8. Christopher: Chris? Topher?

None of those! I would just call him Chris!
9. Evangeline: Eve? Evie? Vangie? Lina?

I don't really Evangeline, but I guess Evie.
10. Elizabeth: Ellie? Ella? Liz? Lizzie? Liza? Lisa? Beth? Libby? Elle? Lily? Betsy? Betty?

Beth! I love the name Elizabeth and Beth!
11. Alexandra: Alex? Lexi? Allie?

I don't really like Alexandra, but Lexi is okay.12. Alexander: Al? Alex? Lex? Xander?
Hmmm.... I like Alex the best but Xander is really cool!

So what would you choose?

Babydow

Hey! I'm sure you guys are very curious about the title, so here goes! Babydow is an online Virtual game where you can be a 'mom' to online kids. It's very fun and after playing on it for a while I decided I would post about it!

I love playing this game! I especially like visiting other people's profiles to see what they names their kids. I  see names from popular like Jack and Ava, to the strange like Denzel and Sea.

Here is my little girl, Abrielle Jade! When you first 'create' a kid, you can choose the Ethnic group, eye color, hair color, and hair style. Then you can visit them:
Here you can care for them, spend time with them, and have them participate in an activity. I like playing  with them and then entering them in activities.

This is especially fun for me because I can see what other people have named their kids and Abrielle has chance to win some trophies!

But it isn't all fun, you still have to buy clothes, food, accessories, and furniture for your baby. Each day, Babydow gives you beads (money) to buy things, so it isn't like Webkinz or InnerstarU where you have to play games to make money.

But that isn't all! You also get a profile page where you write a presentation and show your kids. I have a special message on mine:

I love names! :-)

If you decide (or already have an account), I would love to be friends! My user name is WinterGirls.

A Names!

Hey! I love the letter A! It's so cute and it seems to have billions of options. Anyways, to start off, I decided I would show you the five most popular names that start with A for girls and boys. Here they are!
Boys:                             Girls:
1. Aiden                         1. Amelia
2. Alexander                2. Ava
3. Asher                         3. Abigail
4. Andrew                     4. Addison
5. Aaron                        5. Audrey

I love the name Amelia! It's so cute and preppy and I love how it's the name of a famous aviator (Amelia Earhart). I was surprised to see this at the top of the list though, but I guess it makes sense. Mia is nick-name for Amelia and there are a lot of Mia's in the world so I'm guessing that's why. Anyways, Amelia is a Latin name.

Asher. I've never heard of this name before but it's very cute. It's a Hebrew name and means blessed an happy. This is an awesome name!

Abigail is also becoming very popular! I think there are about 3 or 4 Abigail's in my school who go by Abby. It's also another cute Hebrew name and means Joy of Father. Did you know there are 10 other spellings of Abigail?

A city in Texas is called Austin. And now kids are being called Austin all across the country! I don't mind it though, it's a pretty decent name. But I was shocked to find Austin was also a girls name! Where do people get these ideas? Anyways, it's an English name and has a very simple meaning of great.

What are some of your favorite 'A' names?

What would you name triplets?

Hey! The other day I was on yahoo.answers.com and asking the question 'what to name triplets?' I like to see what other people are planning on naming their kids! And then I came upon this:

What Would YOU Name Triplets IF....?

(You choose the genders)

1. Their 1st names all started with the same letter, and middles all started with the same letter?
2. They had to be named after important people in your life?
3. They had to have your LEAST favorite names
4. They were named after celebrities
5. What would you actually name your triplets?
by Jade's Mama [TTC #2]

It's a cool triplet naming questioner so I decided I would answer it and share it with you all. So here goes:

{I using 1 boy and 2 girls}

1. I don't really like having twin/triplet names being the same, but it's the first question so here goes:
Harper Jade, Henry James, Helena Joy

2. Marie, Elizabeth, William (middle names of some close people)

3. I'm not going to do this so I don't offend anyone with those names

4. Selena (Gomez), Claire (Bridgit Mendler's middle name), Nathan (Kress)

5. Hmmm...... Probably Abrielle Marie (Aubri for short), Helena Elizabeth, Brenden William

What would your answers be? Please comment and let me know!

J

Hey! Now as I promised, J!

J is a really cool letter. Especially because there are so many J names out there that are really pretty. Just look at the Duggars! Everyone in their family has a 'J' name! Some of my favorite names that start with J are: Joanna, James, Jill(ian), Jessica, Jonathan, and Joseph.

I recently looked up the name James at this website (It's where I get all my name info) and to my surprise, found that James was also a girls name! I was shocked at this because to me, James is a boy's name- and one of my favorites as well. It means supplanter.

Another name that I really like (and you all like as well judging by your comments) is Jill. It so sweet and simple! It's and English name and is a short form of Jillian.

Jessica and Joseph are such gorgeous names but they are very popular! Jessica is currently #78 in US Births while Joseph is ranked at #16 in US Births.

Joanna is also one of my favorite girls names. It's an English name which makes it all the more sweet and means God is Gracious. I love how it has a spiritual meaning too!

Another name I'm finding quite popular is Jadyn.  It's not my favorite name, but some people make it work.

What are some of your favorite J names? I've know I've already asked you this, but maybe your names have changed since looking here or reading this post.

Cities and States- for names?

Hey! Today lets see what happens when a city/state name becomes a baby name- things get weird! For example, here you can guess 5 names of cities that are now kids' names. It's actually pretty cool and it's where I got  most of the names in the pic above.

However it isn't like every name was totally predictable-  I never knew people were naming kids Memphis! Living in Tennessee, this is especially weird for me! I love the name Savannah- even though it is the name of a city, I don't really mind it's just too cute! Charlotte (Charlotte, North Caroline) has especially become a popular name. I really like it though and the nickname, Charlie, is also very cute. As for Brooklyn, Dallas, Houston, and Madison (also last name of a president, more on that later) I'm not very fond of them. They sound too "city-like" to me and don't really seem like a kids name.

What's your opinion on these kids' names?

C

Hey!
Today, I think we all should turn our heads towards the letter C. I love this letter! It had some of the most gorgeous names like Caroline, Claire, Charlie, and Christopher.
I personally love the name Claire. It's simple but so glamourous that I can't help but love it. Claire is one of those gorgeous French names and means illustrious

I also really like the name Charlie- for a boy. It's not that I dislike it for a girl, I think it's just more of a boy's  name. It is an English name and means free man.

Cheyenne. This is a very difficult name for me because it's the name of a city. I'm not particularly found of having people named after a city but the fact that it's Native American totally makes up for it!

So now I ask you, how was this for a second post to the blog? What are your favorite and not-so-favorite names?

~Gabby

PS The next letter I will do will be J, do you have any J suggestions?

Welcome!

Hi!

My name is Gabby and I'm and 11 yr old girl who loves to rant- mostly about names! On this blog I will give my opinions (as well as yours too) about names. You can comment, rate, criticize, yell, and cry at the names I've chosen to show here on a post and feel free to suggest some too!

Bye for now,
Gabby
